With the cost of food skyrocketing throughout the county, many families are left with the concern of how they will be able to produce their annual family Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings. With that in mind High Power Society, SouthPromo.com, the Miami Dade Department of Corrections, Urban League of Greater Miami, and Demesmin and Dover Law Firm have teamed up host the 3rd Annual Feast for the Streets turkey distribution event on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 to help offset the costs that come with traditional Thanksgiving dinner. This drive-thru event kicks off at 10AM at Gwen Cherry Park located at 7090 NW 22nd Avenue in Miami, FL.
During this event, there will be approximately 800 turkeys distributed to local South Florida families.
“As food plays an essential role in our livelihoods, it is important that we recognize the additional costs that are associated with putting together a traditional Thanksgiving meal for a family of 5 or more,” says event organizer Jay Harris of High Power Society. “Thanksgiving is a time to embrace and give thanks for what we have, not focus on what we don’t. So if we can help by just eliminating the cost of the Turkey, that will provide one less area of worry for families.”
Each year the cars begin lining up as early as 7am to ensure their free Turkey.
Community partners got this years' event include Cox Media Group’s WEDR 99 Jamz & Hot 105 FM, Florida Power & Light, Humana Healthcare, Miami Dade Parks and Recreation, Gold Soul BBQ and Seafood, DTLR, and The Hype Magazine.
