This past weekend, the spirit of community, compassion, and giving back was on full display as Nana’s House Behavioral Health Treatment Center, Councilman Reggie Leon of the City of Miami Gardens, and Caresha “Yung Miami” Brownlee — formerly of the chart-topping rap duo City Girls — joined forces with SouthPromo.com, 99 Jamz, Mobile Billboard Miami, and Lex Promotions to host the impactful “Spend Dat Gas Giveaway & Shopping Spree” community event.

Held to support families and individuals facing financial hardships, the event brought together local leaders, community organizations, media partners, and volunteers to create a meaningful day of relief and empowerment for South Florida residents.

Thanks to the incredible partnership and support from all organizations involved, the event successfully provided:

  • Free gas for 293 vehicles

  • $200+ shopping sprees for 28 deserving women and families

While many community events focus on entertainment, this initiative was intentionally designed to address real needs affecting everyday people. Attendees used their shopping sprees primarily on essential household items including:

  • Diapers

  • Groceries

  • Toiletries

  • Children’s clothing

  • Household necessities

  • Personal care items

The emotional impact of the event could be felt throughout the day as families expressed gratitude for receiving assistance during challenging economic times.

Yung Miami Goes Above and Beyond

One of the most heartfelt moments of the event came when several participants exceeded their $200 shopping limit while purchasing necessities for their households. Without hesitation, Yung Miami personally stepped in and paid the remaining balances in full, ensuring families did not have to put back needed items.

Her generosity and genuine care for the community created unforgettable moments for attendees, many of whom shared emotional stories about how much the assistance meant to them.

As a proud Miami native, Yung Miami continues to demonstrate her commitment to giving back to the communities that helped shape her journey to success.

For SouthPromo.com, the event represents the continued importance of using entertainment, media, and community partnerships as tools to create positive change.

“This wasn’t just about gas or shopping,” said Jessica Williams, Founder of SouthPromo.com. “It was about helping people feel seen, supported, and valued during a time when many families are struggling. Watching mothers purchase necessities for their children and seeing the gratitude from attendees reminded us why community work matters so much.”

The overwhelming turnout and positive response from the community further highlight the need for continued initiatives focused on direct community support and outreach.
